I never get spam or anything from anyone I dont know on this cable internet, except for the last week or so someone, that keeps changing their name (and you cant reply back) keeps sending me emails with very short sentences and an attachment. the virus scan picks them up everytime and says that it contains a virus. Strange how I never get spam and now this is the only thing I ever get from someone I dont know. Makes me wonder if its from someone I've banned on the board or something.

wish I could get my hands around the throat of the jerk doing it. they might as well give up, I dont open anything from those I dont know and especially wont open attachments! Hopefully whomever is doing it will die a painfull death in a car crash or something and wont be able to try anymore. Rot in hell you bastard!

I'm wondering if its our little buddy that got banned from the board?

my virus scan catches them so whomever is doing it is wasting their time, plus I dont open crap from people I dont know.

What's the name of the attachment? Or does the subject include the word "important"?

    Edit:

Looking at Symantec's current threats, it's probably this:

W32.Netsky.P@mm is a mass-mailing worm that uses its own SMTP engine to send itself to the email addresses it finds when scanning the hard drives and mapped drives. The worm also tries to spread through various file-sharing programs by copying itself into various shared folders.

The From line of the email is spoofed, and its Subject line and message body of the email vary. The attachment name varies with the .exe, .pif, .scr, or .zip file extension.

This worm also uses the Incorrect MIME Header Can Cause IE to Execute E-mail Attachment vulnerability to cause unpatched systems to auto-execute the worm when reading or previewing an infected message.

Make sure you are up to date on your microsoft updates for IE and the system.

I think they have posted a fix a while back to take care of the exploit that virus is trying to take advantage of.

It's like the Klez virus...it gets into your address book and sends the virus to people in your address book and changes the name of the person who sent it.
